Its Earth Day, are the Forest Preserves Safe?
0April 21st, 2010GarbageIt’ll be a great day to get to get out of the house, maybe plant a tree or pick up some trash. It’s great that Cook County has set aside groves and forest for us city folk and suburbanites to escape from the hustle and bustle. But from a few recent trips to a preserve in the northwest ‘burbs, our forest preserves contain no less deviants and suspicious folk than any dark alley in the city. Hey, if you’re looking for an ego boost (or a substitute for syrup of ipecac), wait for a lonely old man to drive by in a Lincoln Towncar and look you up and down. I wrote these hiakus as therapy.
