First let me say 1. I’m not a fan of Levis and 2. I’m always a bit hesitant when it comes to spreading around commercial work…especially those campaigns which are designed to be spread virally, but I think sometimes good work is just good work…even if they did barrow more then a couple elements from Gummo.

On one hand the campaign is designed to instill the image levi’s once had as the company behind americas working class which made enduring, quality product… unfortunately regardless of the marketing I don’t think the jeans are going to be getting any better. On the other hand though the ads are powerful and motivating, and what they have to say I think is important. If only levi’s spent a couple of those marketing dollars and put a few extra stitches in there jeans.

In preparation for a little cabin retreat in Norther Wisconsin, I have begun searching the “free stuff” ads to supplement our rugged getaway. Came across some useful contacts for scrap wood, old craft magazines and of course some ducks

I have about 6 ducks that need a good home. Together if possible. They are pets, not meat ducks. So please, don’t take them unless you’re going to take care of them and keep them alive. They must have a shelter for summer and winter. Winter I don’t let them out. Their feet can freeze if out in the snow and ice. So there has to be hay on the floor of their shelter. They also require food and water every day – all winter. I’ve had a few interested but they did not think they had to feed them or water them – basically just let them loose in the woods. I’ve had 3 ducks killed by predators (raccoons, skunks, fox, wolves) over the years and they were inside a fence. So they need to be in a closed building at night. These ones have never free ranged but would probably like it once they knew their boundries. You’d have to get them in at night. They are very trusting since they have been around people, dogs, cats, and chickens. The ducks cannot fly. You have to teach a duck to fly. They don’t know they can. They have been eating #2 feed from the feed store in Ashland. Doing fine on it. In the winter I supplement with Duck Starter. Make sure they are chemical/drug free. That can kill a duck. If you don’t have an adequate shelter but want all the ducks, there is a POSSIBILIY if you supply the needed materials and travel expense we will help you build it.

This is the dedication which lay the foundation for great movies. Speaking of classics…

Every year I’m amazed how much stuff changes….yet here I am, for the 4th year in a row, locked in a room editing a snowboard film. Not to complain, It’s really a pretty good gig and over the last few years I’ve gotten a lot more efficient at it. The first one had the least amount of footage and took me around 3months, the 2nd with much more footage took around 2 months, last year with the longer documentary form and with Sam on board too it took a little over a month…This year with more footage then ever I have a little over a month again and I’m on a solo mission.

Last year was the first time I had ever edited a project with someone else and in doing so I picked up a lot of tricks. The first thing Sam did last year was suggest getting Post It’s….My response was “why would I ever need Post It’s”….In the end I think the Post It’s saved the movie. So this year I went out and got Post It’s 1st thing and began to outline the movie. All that’s left to make this movie now is figure out where everything goes…how hard could that be….

We recently created a short viral commercial for Blurtt. Don’t worry, no one was harmed in the making of this…

For the past few couple weeks I have been logging snowboarding footage, I needed a break from counting spins and naming files so I cut a little edit together from some pretty stuff shot at a Sun Valley (In Idaho) sunset shoot.

Steven Kilzer shot the first few shots in it, then his camera broke that day and I shot the snowboard tricks which Tim Humphreys took care of.
